$8.00
Strappy clumping plant with long, dark green, flat leaves and blood-red velvety flowers on long stems. The plant reaches 1.5 – 2m tall in flower and attracts honeyeaters and butterflies. It looks stunning when planted in groups or in large containers, and is an excellent cut flower. It needs moisture during flowering from late spring to mid-summer, and grows best in well-drained soils such as sandy loam, loam, gravelly clay loam and sand over clay with full sun. Trim spent flowers to base, and every 2 – 3 years, prune back hard so the rhizomes can resprout fresh new growth. Apply slow-release native plant fertiliser before flowering and control snails. Origin – WA Hybrid.
