A low to medium, dense shrub with fine, softly hairy, linear leaves, clusters of deep red, claw flowers and rounded, woody fruit embedded in the stems. This hardy shrub grows from 0.4 – 1m high and 1 to 1.5m wide on a wide variety of soils and sites, including sandy and gravelly soils, clay loam, sandstone, near saline flats, on rocky outcrops, ridges and winter-wet areas. It flowers best in full sun in spring and summer, and attracts birds to feed on the nectar. Origin – Swan Coastal Plain and Geraldton Sandplains.
