Medium upright shrub with soft, densely woolly, grey-green leaves and stems, and startling, deep purple, tubular flowers. This showy shrub flowers over many months from autumn to spring, and despite its soft appearance, it is very hardy and tolerates frost and drought. It grows to 1m high in well-drained sandy loam, loam, sandy clay, clay loam, gravelly clay loam, clay, stoney soils and water-gaining sites in drier areas. It flowers best in open, sunny sites with good air circulation in the south-west. Low maintenance. Origin – Mid-West and Rangelands.
