A small tree or mallee with shiny green leaves, and glossy, creamy-grey to coppery, smooth bark that sheds, with long reddish bud caps and large, showy clusters of bright yellow to yellow-green flowers. It is very hardy, easy to establish and can be pruned hard to rejuvenate if required. It grows from 4 – 8m high and flowers in summer and autumn, attracting many birds. It is a popular ornamental feature or screening tree in home gardens and along driveways. It grows in a range of soils, including sandy loam, loam, gravels, clay loam and around granite. It tolerates drought and moderately saline soil. Origin – Southern Mallee and Central Wheatbelt.
