A vigorous, prostrate shrub with long, deeply lobed leaves and showy clusters of one-sided, dark red toothbrush flowers. This hardy shrub is fast-growing and will quickly cover a bank with a dense layer of attractive foliage and great flowers. The new leaves are coppery red while the mature leaves vary in shape between undivided and deeply divided, adding interest. An excellent ground cover for full sun or dappled shade, in sandy loam, gravelly loam, clay loam and clay. It grows to about 0.3m high and 4 – 6m wide and tolerates heavy frost and drought. It flowers mainly in winter and spring. Origin – Victoria and New South Wales.
