Kunzea pomifera – Muntries

$8.00

A dense, prostrate shrub with small, heart-shaped leaves and clusters of white flowers, followed by pink to maroon edible berries. An excellent fast-growing ground cover that quickly forms a dense mat under trees or over an embankment. It grows to about 0.3m high and spreads to 2 to 3m wide and can be trellised for easier fruit management. The spring flowers are followed by attractive fruit, like blueberries, in late summer to autumn. It grows in full sun or part shade and tolerates light frost and some drought. The berries have a spicy, stewed apple flavour eaten raw or in jams and relishes. A favorite bush tucker plant for aborigines and used by early settlers. Origin – coastal South Australia and Victoria.
