Pimelea sylvestris – Rice Flower

$8.00

A medium shrub with neatly arranged, narrow green leaves and masses of pretty white flower heads with pale pink centres, displayed at the ends of branchlets. A lovely shrub that adapts well to different conditions. It flowers from late winter to early summer and grows from 0.3m to 1.2m tall, tolerating moderate drought and frost. It grows in sandy and gravelly soils, winter wet depressions, laterite ridges, coastal limestone, swamp edges and granite outcrops. A great plant for mixed shrubberies, the white flowers off-setting other colours and attracting butterflies and moths. It responds well to pruning after flowering to maintain shape and to stimulate more flowers. Origin – south-west.
