A medium, dense shrub with linear, blue-green whorled leaves and soft, pale lavender to white, tubular flowers on slender stems. It flowers in spring and early summer and grows from 0.5m to 1.5m high, tolerating moderate drought and frost. It grows naturally on coastal limestone cliffs, tolerating saline coastal wind, but adapts well to a wide range of well-drained soils, including sandy loam, gravelly loam and clay loam. A fast-growing, hardy and versatile shrub that is easy to establish. A great plant for hedging and low windbreaks, and can be clipped often to create topiary shapes in large courtyard pots and for a denser habit. Despite the common name, it is not edible and has no aroma. Origin – Coastal New South Wales.
